TreeBaltimore Campaign is Underway!

TreeBaltimore is the City’s plan to work together with all residents, businesses, institutions and all other stakeholders to double our tree canopy over the next 30 years. Why should we care about our trees? Trees are a miracle of life! They clean water and air; they keep us cooler in the summer; and help lessen the impacts of global warming. Sustainability – What is it, and What is the Plan?

Baltimore City has defined sustainability as “meeting the current environmental, social, and economic needs of Baltimore without compromising the ability of future generations to meet those needs” and is often illustrated as a three-legged stool made up of social equity (people); economic health (prosperity); and environmental stewardship (planet). People, Prosperity and the Planet!

We want to use our resources efficiently, we want to recycle whenever possible and we don’t want unnecessary waste. We want to make sure that our children and grandchildren have what they need to live happy, healthy lives and that we have not left them a big mess for them to clean up!
